Thirza CRAWFORD married Stojan "Tony" MARAS in the State of Montana, County of Lewis and Clark on September 16th, 1922.  She was 18 years and 10 months on the day of her wedding.  Stojan was 31 years old when they married.  She was born about 1904 in Fort Benton, Montana to Charles H CRAWFORD and Lousia LARSON  She and Stojan "Tony" MARAS had four children (See MARAS Family Page).

There is a story that is remembered about Thirza by one of her granddaughters.  There was a Methodist Minister named Brother William Wesley Van Orsdel, also known as Brother Van who traveled by steamboat up the Missouri River.  When it stopped in Fort Benton, Montana, Brother Van headed for the first establishment he could see, to inquire where he could hold his first service.  It was in the Four Deuces Saloon that the bartender banged his six shooter on the bar and ordered the patrons to shut up and the first service began.  It was Brother William Wesley Van Orsdel who baptized Thirza.

Charles H CRAWFORD, the father of Thirza, was born to Charles CRAWFORD and Mary HEWITT.    Mary HEWITT, was born in November of 1851 in New York according to the 1900 Federal Census, and later moved to Fort Benton, Montana. According to the 1900 Federal Census, Mary's father was from England and her mother was from Ireland.   Charles H, the only child of Charles and Mary CRAWFORD, was born about 1881 and died about 1917. Below is an article regarding the father of Charles H CRAWFORD the source is the Fort Benton, Montana Oldtimers History:

CHARLES CRAWFORD, livery, Fort Benton, was born September, 8, 1848, in Chester Co., Pa. At the age of 10 years he removed with his father to Fort Wayne Ind., and two years later pushed for the Great West. He spent one year as teamster with a mule train at Leavenworth, Kan., and nine years as a cow boy, subsequently learning the machinist's trade at Cheyenne. For six years he was engaged in mining and at his trade in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah Nevada, Idaho and Montana. From 1877-79 he followed the fortunes of a stock raiser in Judith Basin, and after disposing of his interests located at Fort Benton and opened a livery stable in company with C. W. Trailkill, whose share he soon after purchased. After two years spent at the business Mr. Crawford sold out and bought a ranch on the Teton, resided one year upon it, and finally returned to Benton and again established himself as a liveryman. In 1880 he married Miss Mary Hewitt, of Fort Benton who has borne him one child, Charles H. Mr. Crawford owns an interest in some very productive coal mines in Meagher Co. He was once elected city marshal of Benton, but resigned in order to give his whole attention to his livery business.
