THE DIEMER BARN 2004

This barn was built around 1918 by Paul Diemer's uncle, Emil Diemer. He built many barns in and around the Ashtabula County area of Ohio as well as other structures. This barn stands on what used to be the Diemer farm in Lenox Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio. The farm was bought in 1909 by John August Diemer, Paul Diemer's grandfather. The silo that is seen in the photograph above, taken in 1935, was removed around 1945 or 1946 and the small outbuilding as seen above, was built and used as a milkhouse in place of the silo..
DIEMER HOME IN LENOX TOWNSHIP, ASHTABULA COUNTY, OHIO

BUILT AROUND 1850 AND PURCHASED BY JOHN AUGUSTUS DIEMER IN 1909
The three windows on the
second floor, was one huge room, called "the hall". This room took up the
whole half of the second floor. There were stories, of the early years of the
house, that the "hall" was used for dances and parties for the surrounding farm
people.
