Moses FOLEY Sr. was born in Virginia about 1738 and died abt. 1823 in Kentucky.  He was the son of James FOLEY and Mary YOUNG???? He married 1.Elizabeth GREEN (See GREEN AND LAUDERDALE page) daughter of Elizabeth Sarah LAUDERDALE and Lewis GREEN SR, and 2. Rachel Watson. Elizabeth GREEN was born in 1753 in Virginia and died before 1823 in Knox County, Kentucky.

 From the history of Daviess County, MO: Moses was a lame man, was one of the cavalrymen under General Green in the Revolutionary War.  He was a man of considerable means, but lost most of it during the war.  When the war was over, he moved further west to the frontier to secure a home.  He settled on what was called the New River (currently Grayson County, Virginia).  In 1814, he settled in Knox County, Kentucky.

Moses Foley was pastor of North Fork, Holstein and Rich Valley Churches in Virginia in 1794.  In 1802, he moved with 26 church members, to Abraham's Creek where he constituted a new church.  About 1815 he moved to Knox County, Kentucky and settled on the Cumberland River, 4 miles below Barbourville and raised his children.  One of the churches Moses founded, located at Crab Orchard, Kentucky is still in operation. Moses had two families.  His first family by Elizabeth, consisted of 5 sons and 6 daughters.  His second family consisted of 2 sons. He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1783Some of the children of Moses FOLEY and Elizabeth GREEN FOLEY were Elijah, Ginna, James, Moses, Elizabeth, Nancy, Thomas and Spencer FOLEY   


Spencer FOLEY, son of Moses FOLEY and Elizabeth GREEN FOLEY, was born on 10/04/1785 in Virginia.  He died sometime before 1850 in Kentucky.  He was married to 1. Amanda Campbell and 2. Nancy RECTOR who was born about 1807 in Grayson Co., VA.  The children of Spencer FOLEY and Nancy RECTOR FOLEY were Moses R, Leah, Spencer H, Greenberry, Elijah, Luke, Unknown female and James G FOLEY.


James G FOLEY was born abt. 1808 in Virginia.  He died abt. 1892 in Russell County, Kentucky.  In 1843, his residence was Goose Creek.  He was the first FOLEY listed in Russell County court records. On the 16th of October in 1843, John Webb of Russell County, Kentucky sold 91 acres on Goose Creek to James G Foley of Russell County, Kentucky for $100.  By 1856 he owned 1200 acres with a value of $1500, and 6 town lots valued at $100.  James G FOLEY married Telitha Catherine FOX before 1834 in Kentucky. Telitha was born about 1815 in Kentucky.  The children of James G FOLEY and Telitha Catherine FOX were Greenberry, Benjamin, Moses R, Nancy Jane and Peter Franklin FOLEY.


Peter Franklin FOLEY was born 08/14/1834 in Knox County, Kentucky to James FOLEY and Telitha Catherine FOX FOLEY.  He died on 12/30/1916 in Russell County, Kentucky. He was married to Martha Ann RICHARDSON (See RICHARDSON page below) on 3/10/1856 at the home of the bride in Russell County, Kentucky.  Their children were Sarah Jane, Andrew Jackson, Kisiah E, Susan Ellen, Irene Frances, Theodore Jones, Logan Ross and Talitha Ann FOLEY.  Peter Foley's occupation was that of a farmer.  In 1870 he estimated the value of his farm to be $500 and his estate, $650.  (source 130318.GED)


Talitha Ann FOLEY, born 02/09/1863 in Font Hill, Russell Co., Kentucky was the daughter of Peter Franklin FOLEY and Martha Ann RICHARDSON (See RICHARDSON page below).  She died 03/18/1952 in Selby Hopper Farm in Russell County, Kentucky and is buried there.  She was married to Moses Samson (Bud) WILSON (See WILSON page) and was the mother of my grandmother, Flonnie Ree WILSON SMITH (See SMITH page).  Talitha is a name which comes from a passage in the Bible, where Jesus called out to Jarius' daughter who had just died, Talitha Cumi, which means, Little girl arise.

GENERATION ONE

Jonathon RICHARDSON was born about 1715 in Prince William County, Virginia.  He died November 22nd, 1793 in Bedfod County, Virginia.  He was married to Elizabeth UNKNOWN who was his first wife.  He married Ann MASSEY on October 2nd, 1759 in St. Johns, Maryland.  Ann was born about 1736 in Massachusetts.  The children of Jonathon and Ann RICHARDSON were, Amos, Joseph, Mary, Nancy, Aimy, Thomas and Jesse RICHARDSON.


GENERATION TWO

Jesse RICHARDSON was born about 1760 in Loudoin County, Virginia to Jonathon and Ann RICHARDSON, and died on December 17th, 1839 in McCracken County, Kentucky.  According to records he is buried in Soules Cemetery, Pulaski County, Kentucky.  Jesse RICHARDSON married Martha ENGLISH before 1780 in English Station, Kentucky. He was also married to Elizabeth REECE.  The children of Jesse and Martha RICHARDSON were, Charles and Stephen RICHARDSON.


GENERATION THREE

Stephen RICHARDSON was born January 10th 1790 in Kentucky to Jesse and Martha RICHARDSON, and died April 15th 1877 in Russell County, Kentucky.  Stephen married Nancy BURCH on January 31st, 1815 in Fayette County, Kentucky.  Nancy BURCH was born about 1795 in Fayette County, Kentucky.  The children of Stephen and Nancy RICHARDSON were, Jackson Doak RICHARDSON and Unknown male.


GENERATION FOUR

Jackson Doak RICHARDSON was born about 1814 in McCracken County, Kentucky and died about 1906 in Russell County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Stephen and Nancy RICHARDSON.  Jackson married Malinda (Lendy) Lee MEECE on November 25th, 1835 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.  The children of Jackson and Malinda RICHARDSON were, Martha Ann, Kissiah, Martin George, Nancy Jane, Louisa and Belinda RICHARDSON  Jackson was married a second time to Irene Shepherd on June 1st, 1845 by  Erasmus Tater in Russell County, Kentucky.  His last child, Belinda Lee by Malinda Lee was born about 1845, so it almost makes you wonder if Malinda died in childbirth or shortly there after.  The children of Jackson RICHARDSON and Irene Shepherd were, Boston, William, Minerva, G. Alfred, Joshua, Jarisha, Marseline, Elizabeth, Andrew, Dora, James, Patrick and Irene.  There is a Kentucky land grant that was issued to Jackson D. Richardson for 47 acres that was surveyed on 12/14/1846.


GENERATION FIVE

Martha Ann RICHARDSON was born on February 2nd, 1837 in Pulaski County, Kentucky to Jackson and Malinda RICHARDSON, and died April 13th, 1903 in Russell County, Kentucky.  Martha married Peter Franklin FOLEY (See Foley page above) on March 10th, 1856 in the home of the bride in Russell County, Kentucky.  The minister was William Smith, of the United Baptist Church.  The children of Martha Ann and Peter Franklin FOLEY were, Lasan E, George Alford, Sarah Jane, Andrew Jackson, Talitha Ann, Kisiah, Susan Ellen, Irene Frances, Theodore Jones and Logan Ross FOLEY.

UNCLE LOGAN'S TRIPLETS

This photo was found in my Grandmother Flonnie's photographs (Talitha's youngest daughter)

and states "Uncle Logan's Triplets" on the back of the picture.

I am assuming these triplets belonged to Logan Ross Foley and his wife Lula Weir Foley
